Prince Philip was a very good-looking man especially when he was much younger. As such, it isn’t surprising that a lot of beautiful women were drawn to him.

In one episode of “The Crown,” it was claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh had an affair with a prima ballerina, and Queen Elizabeth had knowledge of it. In the scene, Her Majesty opened her husband’s luggage only to find a photo of the ballerina inside.

However, royal historian Hugo Vickers said that it is unlikely that Prince Philip had an affair with the prima ballerina, and his explanation makes a lot of sense. In his book “The Crown: Truth and Fiction,” he also encouraged viewers of the series to not dwell too much on the particular scene.

“Young television viewers will not have heard of Ulanova, but she was immensely famous. Her 1956 visit with the Bolshoi was the cultural event of the season, almost as exciting at the time as Nureyev’s arrival in 1962. Born in 1910, Ulanova was then 46 years old, and it is impossible that Prince Philip could have met her, as she had never been to England before. Her only contact with Britain was an English teddy bear her mother had bought her when she was two,” he said.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the only time that Prince Philip was rumored to have had an affair. In the past, he was also linked to Pat Kirkwood, a British stage actress. When the dad of four was just 27 years old, he crossed paths with Kirkwood at the Hippodrome Theatre in London.

The two hung out for hours, and they even went to a nightclub. Since they spent time with each other until the wee hours of the morning, the rumored couple was also photographed getting breakfast. This happened while the monarch was 8 months pregnant with Prince Charles.

But despite all of the affair rumors surrounding Prince Philip, nothing has been proven until today. And Vickers noted the fact that the Duke and Queen have already been married for over 70 years.
