Disney employees are staging a protest called "Disney Do Better Walkout" on Tuesday as part of a movement against Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill or the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The bill restricts any teachings on sexual orientation or gender identity from kindergarten to third grade. It also limits or prohibits what classrooms can teach about sexual orientation and gender identity unless they are “age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate” in other grades.

Some Disney employees have displayed concern over Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s lack of response in condemning the bill and are demanding more action.

"The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) LGBTQIA+ community and their allies are determined to take a stand against TWDC’s apathy in the face of the bigoted 'Don’t Say Gay' bill put forth by the FL state legislature," the protest website states.

"The recent statements and lack of action by TWDC leadership regarding the 'Don’t Say Gay' bill have utterly failed to match the magnitude of the threat to LGBTQIA+ safety represented by this legislation," it added.

Following the original outcry from Disney employees, Chapek did eventually take action and directly contacted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to explain that the bill "could be used to unfairly target gay, lesbian, non-binary and transgender kids and families," he explained to shareholders in an annual meeting.

Chapek explained that Disney has been working behind the scenes to stop the bill and that the outcome of the bill is not what he or many of his LGBTQ employees were hoping for. Chapek has made clear that he does not approve of the bill and that his attempt to stop DeSantis was unsuccessful.
