  • Ivanka Trump's duties as first daughter

Some Twitter users think Ivanka Trump is doing Melania’s duties as FLOTUS.

According to CNN correspondent Kate Bennett, Melania and Ivanka are “cordial but not close.” Donald’s daughter and wife reportedly shared a warm relationship for two decades, but they dynamic changed when they moved into the White House. An insider claimed that Melania felt Ivanka was “invading her turf.”

When Bennett released her book “Free, Melania,” a netizen stressed on Twitter that if Melania is “the most free of any First Lady in history,” then that’s because nothing is expected from her. Another said that perhaps Melania was free because Ivanka stepped in for her mother-in-law.

“That’s because Ivanka has now stepped into the role of First Lady for her,” @MarshaMelloh commented.

Another social media user agreed that Ivanka took over Melania’s role as the first lady. In fact, for her, the first daughter is doing more than that because Ivanka and her husband, Jared, are meddling directly in foreign affairs and international trade and finance.

It looks like more Twitter users have the same observation. One netizen shared a clip of Ivanka delivering her speech for Paid Family Leave and Child Care Reform. In the caption, the netizen asked, “Does anyone else find it unusual that Ivanka Trump performs all the duties usually carried out by the first lady?”

One social media user said that she can “only speak for public appearances.” Meanwhile, a different user was convinced that Ivanka is doing the duties that should be done by the first lady.

“I’ve always said Ivanka is the first lady,” @ThesisPi commented.

Jeffrey Guterman, a counselor and author, slammed Melania as the “worst first lady” in the modern history after she justified the president’s bullying of Greta Thunberg. In his post, another social media user commented, “Ivanka is first lady.”

In related news, Ivanka is reportedly more popular than Melania because the first daughter is among Forbes 100 most powerful women in 2019. Meanwhile, the first lady didn’t make it into the list.
