What’s the hair color of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie?

On Father’s Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a snap of their son holding Prince Harry’s finger to commemorate the event. There is no doubt that the first-time dad is delighted to have finally celebrated the event.

In the picture, baby Archie’s full face wasn’t exposed but his head was. Daily Star contacted a leading colorist to check if Prince Harry and Markle’s son is “ginger” based on the sepia photo.

Jordan Lloyd, of Dynamichrome, studied the photo to see the details and he looked at tonal values to make an educated guess. He pointed out that the hair color is a “complex subject,” so he is only giving his opinion.

“Looking at this photograph, we can see that Archie’s hair is very fair, and hair in babies tends to go lighter or darker for the first three years before going the other way,” the expert said.

“If I was to make a guess, we’re looking at a light blond now that may get darker with age, but given the Duchess’ mixed heritage, it is fairly unlikely that Archie’s hair will be ginger like Prince Harry’s as ginger hair is a recessive gene. I’d guess it will be brown, but only time will tell.”

If Prince Harry and Markle’s baby will turn out to be ginger, it will likely fuel the rumors that Prince Harry is the son of James Hewitt, Princess Diana’s former lover. Spencer Stevenson, founder of SpexHair.com said earlier that Prince Harry’s baby could bring a genetic proof against the paternity rumors involving Prince Harry.

Aside from Archie’s hair color, the (male pattern baldness) MPB gene is something that many are looking forward to seeing on Prince Harry’s son. If the gene is passed down to Archie, then Prince Harry is Prince Charles’ son since Hewitt has a healthy head of hair at 60 compared to the Windsors.

Stevenson believes that Archie is likely to inherit the MPB gene because boys have increased propensity of experiencing MPB if both the mother and father’s side have this gene. He looked at Markle’s gene pool and concluded that Prince Harry and Markle’s son would carry the gene.
