Wednesday was a historic day in America, as President Donald Trump became the third-ever U.S. President to be impeached, with the House of Representatives voting to remove him from office on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress charges.

Celebrities are often very public about their political opinions. The Washington Post reported that the reason why stars are this way is that people will listen to them. In our culture, celebrities also double as influencers not just in their art but in our society. So naturally, those who have beliefs on both sides of the political spectrum took to social media when they learned the news.

Below is a list of stars and what they tweeted when finding out about the impeachment.

Kirstie Alley

“Dangerous precedent…gonna cause a major tit for tat retaliation now for whomever is in power.." she said. "Fasten your seatbelts, it’s gonna be a bumpy decade.”

Vinny Guadagnino

“People want Trump impeached but you really want Pence? He reminds me of one the founding fathers in the purge,” the "Jersey Shore" alum joked.

John Legend

“Thank you to the House of Representatives for doing your constitutional duty," he said. "Everyone please call your senators and tell them to remove this evil man from office.”

Alyssa Milano

“I expected this moment but I expected to be more joyful. Maybe jump up & do a happy dance. Maybe. But I’m just sad and heartbroken. What he’s left behind can’t be erased with this vote. The bigotry and xenophobia he’s emboldened. The lies. It will take generations to recover,” Milano said.

Michael Moore

“I GOT IN! I AM SEATED IN THE HOUSE GALLERY FRONT ROW WITNESSING HISTORY. CONGRESS IS ABOUT TO IMPEACH A LAWLESS, CRIMINAL PRESIDENT. I had to give my phone up, but will be back tonight and on the podcast to share what I witnessed,” Moore said.

Maria Shriver

“We have never had a President impeached while out campaigning acting as if nothing is going on back on Capitol Hill," she said. "It’s fascinating. Now he will run as an impeached President for re-election. Historic. #ImpeachmentDay.”

Cole Sprouse

“‘It doesn’t mean he’s out of office yet!!!!’ Yeah everyone knows stfu. Take the win, carry the momentum,” he said.

Jordyn Woods

“What a time to be alive,” former best friend of Kylie Jenner said.
