“Dune” fans saw the first trailer for the latest adaptation of Frank Herbert’s epic sci-fi novel, and they had some strong reactions to the video.

Warner Bros. released the first full-length Dune trailer on Wednesday, and Twitter quickly started buzzing. The trailer, set to Pink Floyd’s “Eclipse,” showcases larger than life sets, expensive special effects and a star-studded cast.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, “Dune” follows a young man with a big destiny, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet). He has to travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to try to save his family and his people. Dark forces fight for control of a spice called melange, a resource only available on the planet, which could be the ultimate savior for humanity.

Previously Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, the first in a series, was adapted into a 1985 David Lynch movie and a 2000 Syfy (then called Sci-Fi Channel) TV miniseries.

Director Edgar Wright (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) shared his excitement, and he pointed out what seemed to be an Easter egg for hardcore “Dune” fans.

Lots of fans took to Twitter to share their excitement as well. Viewers of the trailer expressed feelings about the cast, cinematography and scale of the production.

Of course, not everyone was positive. Some believe “Dune” will be an epic bomb.

Joining Chalamet in the cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.

“Dune” is expected to release in theaters on Dec. 18.
