  • Dwayne Johnson revealed he washes at least three times a day
  • Some fans were happy to know he bathes regularly, but others suggested he takes too many showers
  • This came after celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and Jake Gyllenhaal said they don't feel the need to bathe daily

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson assured fans that he is not part of the "not bathing" celebrity trend.

The 49-year-old "Fast and Furious" star recently opened up about his own shower habits after several celebrities, including Ashton Kutcher, Kristen Bell and Jake Gyllenhaal, revealed that they don't feel the need to bathe daily.

He made his views on the bathing debate clear when he responded Friday to a tweet from a fan, who said that Johnson "can't possibly be one of those stinky ones and we would all be weirdly heartbroken to find out otherwise."

Johnson assured the Twitter user, "Nope, I’m the opposite of a 'not washing themselves' celeb."

"Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work.Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off-key) in the shower," he wrote.

Johnson's revelation received mixed opinions online, with some fans saying they're happy he bathes regularly while others suggested that he may be taking too many showers.

"Thank you for not crushing our spirits. We knew we could count on you!" one fan commented.

"The not bathing/showering thing grosses me out! I shower 2x a day (sometimes more if I'm working out or sweating outside working). Please, people. Be like The Rock. Don't be stinky," another added.

"Dude, way too many showers, no Bueno for your skin! You strip out all your essential body oils doing that," a third Twitter user wrote. "Ease off the showers."

"I'm a nurse [and] can tell you if you’re not physically active/sweating or just doing light duty around the house there’s no need to shower every day," another user commented. "Every other is perfectly acceptable. Washing too often/too harshly will wash natural oils off your skin & expose you to harmful things."

The bathing discourse began in July when Kutcher and his wife Mila Kunis revealed on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast that they don't bathe every day and only wash their children when they are visibly dirty.

"Now, here's the thing: If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there's no point," Kutcher said of daughter Wyatt Isabelle, 6, and son Dimitri Portwood, 4.

Shepard and his wife, Bell, then shared on "The View" that they wait for the "stink" to tell them when it's time to get their daughters Delta, 6, and Lincoln, 8, into the shower.

Gyllenhaal revealed his own views about regular bathing during an interview with Vanity Fair published last week. He said he finds "bathing to be less necessary, at times," explaining that not soaping up and washing every day can be helpful for skin maintenance.

"We naturally clean ourselves," he added.

However, Gyllenhaal said he does brush his teeth regularly because, as singer Elvis Costello said, "good manners and bad breath get you nowhere."
