Ed Sheeran said Elton John has been checking on him every day since the beginning of his isolation after the 30-year-old tested positive for Covid-19 in a new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe Show Sunday.

Sheeran said John has been showing his concern as a friend spending a few minutes of his time daily just to make sure he is fine despite the illness.

"He has literally rung me every day," the singer told Lowe in the show as per ET.

"I am feeding Lyra (Sheeran’s daughter) porridge in the morning and it's, 'Say hi to Elton.' There's not many people in my life like that and I really, really appreciate him,” the “Bad Habits” singer added.

The 30-year-old singer said his closeness with the “Rocket Man” artist began even before he became sick with Covid-19. He said John started checking up on him regularly after the death of his friend and mentor Michael Gudinski in March.

"When Michael passed away, [Elton] rang me to see how I was and I really wasn’t good," he said.

Sheeran revealed his Covid-19 diagnosis on Oct. 24, on Instagram and told fans that he would continue doing scheduled interviews and performances at home to prevent spread of the disease.

"Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines," he wrote. "It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x,” he wrote in the post caption.

The singer's positive result came just days ahead of the release of his album “=” (equals) scheduled on Oct. 29.

In an interview with ET in the recent MTV Video Music Awards held in September, the singer-songwriter described the album as a “coming to terms album.”

"I got married. I became a father. I lost a really close friend and turned 30. I feel like it's a coming to terms album,” he said.

Sheeran posted a clip of his interview with Lowe on Sunday describing further what the album means to him.

In the short clip posted on Instagram, Sheeran said he named his album “equals” as it symbolizes “life.”

“I spent a lot of my 20s questioning ‘Who Am I,?’ ‘Why am I here?,’ Why do I do this?’ If I’m a singer, what do I add to the world. So it’s just like so much question and I turned 30 and I feel like some of these questions started to have answers,” he began.

“They started to have answers to two very massive moments in my life. One, my daughter being born which is 'new life' and one, when my friend, Michael died which is 'death.' Both hit me in a way where you appreciate tomorrow more because of each one and it makes sense and I saw what the symbols ‘equals’ – it symbolizes life; not just new life. It symbolizes life. That’s like end of life or start of life. I think having my mate die and realize it’s more of a [reason promise] than every day is actually a real joy to be around, yeah so this record sort of reflects that,” he concluded.
