Eddie Redmayne recently revealed that he felt sorry for Prince William while they were studying at Eton many years ago.

During the actor’s interview on “Watch What Happens Live,” Redmayne said that he and Prince William used to play rugby together. But instead of admiring the Duke of Cambridge for his skills in the sport, the “Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald” actor said that he actually felt sorry for the dad of three.

“I always felt a bit sorry for him because basically any school you played, all they wanted to do was tackle Prince William and they could say, ‘I tackled Prince William,’” he said (via The Sun).

But Redmayne also said that the target on Prince William made it easier for him to play the sport because he was no longer in everyone’s radar.

“So if you were standing next to Prince William like I was, it was actually quite easy and quite fun,” he said.

Despite playing the sport together and being schoolmates, Redmayne revealed that he never kept in contact with the dad of three after they graduated. This is the very reason why the actor didn’t score an invite to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding in 2011.

“Quick answer… No, I wasn’t [invited]. It’s fine,” he said.

In related news, Prince William also made headlines this week after the book “The Duchess of Cambridge: How Kate Middleton Became A Future Queen” was once revisited by Express.

The book stated that one point in the royal couple’s relationship, Prince William felt claustrophobic and decided to go to Greece for a break. One of Prince William’s pals, Guy Pelly, joined him on the all-boys trip. Middleton wasn’t happy about this because she never thought highly of Pelly. Middleton also learned that Pelly hired an all-female crew for their trip to Greece.

In an attempt to deal with the misery, the mom of three packed her bags and returned home to Berkshire where she spent the summer with her family.
