KEY POINTS

  • The Fire Giant is susceptible to fall damage
  • Players can lure the boss to a nearby outcrop and force it to jump down
  • The giant is also vulnerable to Blood Loss procs

"Elden Ring's" main boss fight at the Mountaintops of the Giants can be a little daunting at first, but there is one easy and effortless way to overcome this without even landing a hit.

Arguably, the easiest way to beat the Fire Giant is to simply let gravity do all of the work.

On the right side of the boss area’s entrance, players should be able to see an elevated rocky outcrop. The giant can actually be lured into this position and can be tricked into leaping down into the lower level. Luckily for players, the boss’ sheer weight is enough to cause tremendous damage once he comes into contact with the ground.

Luring the giant to the outcrop is quite straightforward, but it will take some time since the boss moves so slowly. Mount Torrent, then gallop to the left side of the arena, opposite of where the outcrop is, to give the giant some space to maneuver. Hug the borders of the arena and run toward the outcrop while making sure that the boss doesn’t get stuck in the terrain.

Be mindful of the snowy shockwave attacks while maneuvering, and keep in mind that the boss’ reach is surprisingly long. Dash and jump through these attacks to keep Torrent on the field.

Once at the outcrop, hug the cliff edge and wait for the giant to come close. Once he’s near enough, double jump down into the ground and stay there.

Dodge any attacks the boss might throw, and when he prepares to leap into the air, sprint away as quickly as possible. Doing so will cause the giant to lose a large amount of health and immediately start the second phase of the fight.

After the short cutscene, do the same thing at least two more times. However, be careful of the giant’s new fireball attacks. These can be dodged by double-jumping or by hiding behind cover.

For players who don’t want to cheese the boss completely, use weapons with heavy bleed damage. The Fire Giant can be easily taken down with a few Blood Loss procs. Long, two-handed bleed weapons are especially useful in this fight as they allow for easier attacks while on horseback.
