KEY POINTS

  • The Devourer's Scepter drops from Recusant Bernahl
  • The NPC can be fought in Stormhill or Crumbling Farum Azula
  • For combat purposes, the weapon is used like a two-handed mace

The Devourer’s Scepter is one of the nine legendary armaments that players can collect in “Elden Ring.” It’s also tied to one of the game’s achievements that players must unlock for 100% completion.

Like the other legendary weapons, the Devourer’s Scepter comes with a unique Ash of War in the form of Devourer of Worlds. This weapon skill steals the HP of all enemies over a medium-sized area around the caster, making it great for dealing with crowds.

Players can acquire the Devourer’s Scepter by defeating Recusant Bernahl in one of two locations: Warmaster’s Shack in Limgrave or Crumbling Farum Azula.

Fighting Bernahl at the Warmaster’s Shack is the fastest way to get this weapon. The shack is located northeast of the first Site of Grace in Stormhill, just past the underside of the bridge. Instead of using the scepter, Bernahl will use his greatsword instead when fighting players in the shack.

Players can only fight Bernahl at Warmaster’s Shack if they haven’t pledged allegiance to Volcano Manor yet. Agreeing to take the recusant path with Tanith will cause Bernahl to move to the manor, which is a non-combat area.

The only way to fight and defeat Bernahl after Volcano Manor is to go to Crumbling Farum Azula later in the game. Go to the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace, and then go left. Follow the path that leads to a tower.

Recusant Bernahl will invade players as a red phantom after reaching the tower. Be careful of the beastmen in the area as they will make fighting the invader much more difficult. Here, Bernahl will use the scepter against players, which may make things more complicated.

Beat him like any other NPC invader, and he will drop the scepter along with his armor set and the Blasphemous Claw, an item that can be used to parry Malekith’s Black Blade attacks. This item can potentially make the Crumbling Farum Azula’s main boss fight much easier as it will give players time to punish Malekith after a successful parry.

The Devourer’s Scepter requires 24 STR, 20 DEX and 25 FAI to wield.
