Ellen DeGeneres is mourning the death of her dad.

On Thursday, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" host announced on her TV show that her father, Elliott, passed away at 92. "In addition to what's going on in Monetico, I lost my dad this week," the host said (via Us Weekly) while referring to the Santa Barbara mudslide.

DeGeneres looked back and gave her dad a tribute. "He was 92 years old. He had a good, long life. And he lived his life exactly how he wanted. He was Christian science his entire life. He never had medicine his whole life. He never went to a doctor. We never had a vaccination. We never had medicine growing up and he lived to be 92," the "Finding Dory" star said.

According to DeGeneres, the passing of her dad was not unexpected. In fact, she was able to say her goodbyes. In another tweet, DeGeneres reminisced when her dad took her to Warner Bros. Studios and highlighted the rainbow she captured in her shot.

"When I was a kid, my dad took us on one vacation to Warner Bros. Studios. He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me," DeGeneres wrote.

A number of fans and followers responded to the host's posts. They poured her with love and support because they know that losing someone is never easy.

" How Beautiful how Comforting. I'm sure he was so proud of what a kind and compassionate woman you turned out to be. You do amazing work for people but also for animals. Love your show Ellen watch it every day! England loves you," Herchy Boal commented.

"I'm so sorry for your Dad's passing sweetie. That rainbow is mind blowing ... absolutely reassuring you he's with you. Incredible!!!!!" Carnie Wilson commented.

In related news, back in August, DeGeneres paid tribute to late comedian Jerry Lewis. The produce, director and actor who was more popular for his slapstick humor passed away at the age of 91 at his home in Las Vegas.

"Jerry Lewis was a comic and philanthropic icon. I send love to his family today," DeGeneres wrote on Twitter.
