A radio host has revealed the “bizarre” experience he had working with Ellen DeGeneres’ staff for an interview on Australia’s “Today” show.

When Neil Breen worked on the show in 2013, he was apart of the team tapped to film Richard Wilkins’ interview with the comedian. However, he recently admitted that the crew for the Australian show had issues with DeGeneres’ staff from the very beginning.

“Originally she was going to co-host the 'Today' show, then she was going to do this, then she was going to do that. The whole thing got watered down to Ellen DeGeneres would do a sit-down interview,” the reporter said on his “4BC Breakfast With Neil Breen” radio show on Tuesday.

Breen revealed that he and the team eventually had to travel to Melbourne, Australia, “at our expense” to film the segment. Once they arrived, he claimed that DeGeneres’ staff took control of the interview and revealed their expectations.

“The producers called us aside and said, ‘OK. This is how it’s going to work here this morning. Ellen’s going to arrive at 10:15, and she’ll be sitting in this chair here. And Richard, you’ll be sitting in this chair here,'” he recalled.

“'Now, Neil, no one’s to talk to Ellen. You don’t talk to her, you don’t approach her, you don’t look at her. She’ll come in, she’ll sit down, she’ll talk to Richard, then Ellen will leave.’”

In the end, Breen shared that he didn’t blame the host for her staff’s behavior but couldn’t necessarily say much about her character.

“I didn’t get to talk to her because I wasn’t allowed to. I don’t know whether she’s a nice person or not. I wouldn’t have a clue. But I can tell you, the people who worked with her walked on eggshells the whole time and the whole thing was totally bizarre,” he explained.

Breen’s claims come after the attention of the BuzzFeed News article in which former and current employees claimed the show had a toxic work environment.

Last week, WarnerMedia launched an internal investigation into “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” after employees spoke out against the host and showrunners.
