“Amazing Spider-Man” stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have supposedly broken up -- for good this time -- after four years of dating, People magazine wrote in an exclusive report Tuesday. Neither star issued an official statement about the reputed split, but the apparent breakup happened a few months ago.

"They still have love for one another. They are on good terms with each other and remain close," a source told the publication. "There was no drama; they've been apart while working. They still care about each other."

It’s not the first time Garfield, 32, and Stone, 26, have been the subject of breakup rumors. They first fell victim to claims they ended their relationship in April of this year. “It’s clear they’ve drifted apart. It’s an unspoken issue, but everybody knows they are on hold,” an insider told Star magazine at the time. “They are taking some time apart to figure things out. They need to know if what they once had is worth saving.”

Part of the reason they weren’t able to make things work was because of their long-distance relationship. At the time the breakup was first reported, Garfield was in Taiwan filming Martin Scorsese’s flick “Silence,” in which he portrays a Jesuit priest.

The role took a toll on the actor. “He's lost weight, and he's in a dark place mentally for his performance, and he's not boyfriend material right now,” a source told Us Weekly in April. “He’s thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else,” a different insider told People magazine.

Stone also fielded rumors that she cheated with “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” costar Ryan Gosling. Gosling's girlfriend, “Hitch” actress Eva Mendes, supposedly suspected the fling. “If she gets his voicemail, she’ll text and text until he gets back to her,” In Touch Weekly reported in September. “It doesn’t matter how many times Ryan tells Eva that he and Emma are just friends; she knows there’s an attraction there.”

Stone and Gosling, 34, are set to star in “La La Land,” their third feature film together. The movie is set to hit theaters July 15, 2016.
