'Empire' actor Bryshere Gray was arrested in Pheonix, Arizona, on Monday, July 13, after his wife accused him of assaulting her. The 26-year-old actor, who appeared in all 102 episodes of the Fox drama series, was arrested outside his residence in suburban Goodyear.

The Goodyear police said Gray's wife called 911 to report abuse on Sunday night. She made the call from a Circle K store where she was driven to by a driver she managed to flag down at a gas station, ABC15 reporter Zach Crenshaw said.

Crenshaw posted on Twitter that the woman had "numerous visible injuries on her body" and said "she was strangled at one point by Gray and temporarily lost consciousness."

“She was treated and released for her non-life-threatening injuries,” the Goodyear Police Department read.

More dramatic incidents followed at Gray's residence when the actor refused to come out and speak to the officers. Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called out to assist the scene.

“Just after 7:00 am, Gray was taken into custody without incident,” the department said.

He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, assault, and disorderly conduct.

Gary had been nominated for Black Entertainment Television awards, Image and Teen Choice awards for his role as Hakeem Lyon, a fame-obsessed rising rapper and youngest son of Lucious and Cookie Lyon (Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson) in 'Empire'.

Gray has also performed at Jay Z’s Made in America Festival, The Roots' Picnic Festival, and Power 99FM's Powerhouse concert. His debut single "Respect" released in 2013.
