  • Releasing two free games weekly, the Epic Games Store accidentally revealed the identity of one of the titles hours before it was scheduled
  • The first title was "Samurai Showdown NeoGeo Collection"
  • From June 11 to 18, the two titles will be free to download before reverting to their original prices

With Epic Games releasing free games weekly, a second title accidentally leaked on their Facebook page hours before its actual announcement.

Certain games can be downloaded from the Epic Games online store for free. Since the games change every week, fans can experience a lot of free games if they buy from the Epic Games website at no cost. As long as they keep their Epic Games Store account, the fans can keep those games. That same Epic Games Store account can be maintained at no cost as well.

The first title that the developer was going to release for free was “Samurai Showdown NeoGeo Collection” but the second title was kept under wraps by the developer. “Samurai Showdown NeoGeo Collection” includes games in the series between 1993 and 2004, which are I, II, III, IV, V Amakusa’s Revenge, V, and V Special. A previously unreleased version of “Samurai Showdown V” (called “Samurai Showdown V Perfect”) will also be bundled in.

An ad on Facebook that was supposed to go live at a later time, however, accidentally revealed the name of the second game, according to Gamerant.

That game is “ARK: Survival Evolved.” First released in 2017 by Studio Wildcard in collaboration with Instinct Games, Efecto Studios, and Virtual Basement, “ARK: Survival Evolved” is an action-adventure survival game where players must survive being stranded on an island filled with roaming dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, natural hazards, and potentially hostile human players.

Available on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, the game is set in an open world where players can tame the dinosaurs and establish a base for themselves. Mystical creatures can also appear to be tamed and fed by players.

There was a previous leak that stated that “ARK: Survival Evolved” was on the list of games that would be part of the free weekly promotions. Although Epic Games itself has not issued a statement, the fact that the news appeared on an official channel of the company pretty much confirms the veracity of the news.

Both “Samurai Showdown NeoGeo Collection” and “ARK: Survival Evolved” will be free to download for the period of June 11 to June 18 and will revert to their original prices after. Gamerant reports that promotions like this will help open the gateway for Epic Games to also create a version of their store available for mobile devices.
