Dakota Johnson has opened up about her depression struggles amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Johnson has a very bubbly character whenever she appears on TV. She seems a happy person. However, there are also days when she struggles mentally due to depression.

The “Fifty Shades” star got candid about her mental health in an interview with Marie Claire. According to her, she’s been struggling with depression since she was 14 or 15.

“I’ve struggled with depression since I was young—since I was 15 or 14. That was when, with the help of professionals, I was like, Oh, this is a thing I can fall into. But I’ve learned to find it beautiful because I feel the world,” Johnson confessed.

She felt that she has a lot of complexities, but they don’t pour out of her. Also, she doesn’t make her condition anyone else’s problem.

The tension within her makes Johnson compelling on-screen. In fact, her “The High Note” co-star Tracee Ellis Ross praised her for being passionate and for feeling things deeply. Ross also found her charming, playful, and someone who is not afraid to speak up.

Since the world is on lockdown, many fear for their mental health. The advice to practice social distancing and quarantining at home made many feel isolated. Johnson also shared how the COVID-19 pandemic affected her.

“I’m constantly thinking about the state of the world right now. It keeps me up at night, all night, every night. My brain goes to crazy dark places with it,” she said.

“My brain moves at a million miles per minute. I have to do a lot of work to purge thoughts and emotions, and I am in a lot of therapy,” she added.

Johnson is isolating with her boyfriend Chris Martin. In March, they were photographed walking with her dog.

In the snap, she could be seen clinging on his arm while smiling and looking at his face. Her other hand held the dog leash. She also shared a video of her washing hands with Martin on Instagram. However, she did not show his face on the camera, only his hands.

Both Johnson and Martin are very private when it comes to their romance. In 2018 during her interview with Tatler, Johnson insisted to keep her relationship with the Coldplay singer private by not speaking about their romance.

“I'm not going to talk about it. But I am very happy,” she said.
