The Flash
Iris (Candice Patton, pictured) will make a shocking decision in episode 4 of "The Flash" Season 2. The CW

"The Flash" must have a thing against family reunions. The second Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) got out of prison on the CW series, he told Barry (Grant Gustin) he was hitting the road. Now Iris' (Candice Patton) biological mother has turned up only to have her daughter turn her away. A sneak-peek clip from episode 4 of "The Flash" Season 2, "The Fury of Firestorm," reveals that Iris will shock Joe (Jesse Martin) with the cold-as-ice decision to send Francine West (Vanessa Williams) packing.

At the end of episode 2 of the current season, Francine showed up in Central City looking to reconnect, first reaching out to Joe. Iris was shocked to find out about her mother, even as Joe explained that her history of drug use prevented her from being the mother she should have been. However, she is here now looking for a second chance. Is Iris willing to open up? Not so fast.

This is a woman fresh off losing her fiancé in a cross-universe meta-human war. The timing is not great and the still-traumatized Iris is not about to make herself vulnerable to all of the pain associated with her mother walking out. With a steely resolve she tells Francine that she does not want them to get know each other.

"I can appreciate you feeling like this is suddenly the right time for you to want me in your life, but that does not mean it is the right time for me," says Iris. "We have lead separate lives for more than 20 years. Let's keep it that way. "

Harsh! Have we seen the last of Francine or will Iris come around? Fans will have to tune in to find out. "The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
