When "The Flash" announced last week that Season 2 would include the appearance of Wally West, to be played by "Insurgent" star Keiynan Lonsdale, fans got excited. However, the news was met with more than a few questions. Would Wally become Kid Flash right away? How would S.T.A.R. Labs handle another speedster? Well, Gabrielle Stanton, the showrunner on the CW series, says that loyal viewers can guess all they want, but the answer will likely surprise them.

Speaking to TV Line, Stanton teased how the new character would factor into the show.

“We are a doing our special 'Flash' magic where we take a comic book character and give it just a little bit of a ‘Hmmm,’ so that you’re like, 'Oh!'” said Stanton. Stanton also cryptically teased that Wally will be introduced “in a really, really cool way… that I don’t think the audience will see coming. He will definitely have a very interesting and close relationship with Team Flash.”

That answer might not provide the clarity that comic book fans may have been hoping to get from the producer, but it is guaranteed to get viewers excited about what twists lay ahead in the new episodes.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Keiynan Lonsdale, best known for his roles as Uriah in “Insurgent” and Ollie in “Dance Academy,” signed on to play Wally West in Season 2 just over a week ago.

"Just like when we met [star] Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

The announcement was coupled with a tweet confirming the news from Lonsdale himself, who seemed pretty happy about taking on the role.

Lonsdale's Wally West will join a bunch of new characters set to make their debuts in Season 2, including a third speedster, Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), and a new love interest for Barry, Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten).

How will the show make room for all the characters? Fans will have to wait to find out. "The Flash" Season 2 premieres on the CW on Oct. 6.
