After winning the first challenge, Soma gets ready and heads off to the second venue for the next challenge, "Food Wars!" Season 5, Episode 5 official synopsis teases. However, he encounters someone unexpected at the second venue.

The theme of the second challenge is to cook a dish using materials sold in a convenient store. Soma is confident to clear this challenge without any problem. To his horror, every dish he presents is rejected by the judges. It remains to be seen why his dishes are rejected.

In the previous episode, the participants reach the venue and are randomly divided into three groups for the first challenge. While, Soma, Megumi and Takumi are placed in different groups, they cannot find Nakiri’s name in any group. The coordinator announces Erina will be facing a separate trial and will not be part of any group.

Megumi, Soma and Takumi clear the first challenge and prepare for the second challenge in the fifth episode. It will be interesting to see if Totsuki Academy’s students can win the championship.

"Food Wars!" Season 5, Episode 5 is directed by Ryo Ando. The script of the episode is written by Shogo Yasukawa. Yumi Nakayama, Mariko Komatsu, Puiki Pan, Masaaki Yamamoto and Kazumi Ono are credited as animation directors. Masakazu Yamazaki and Tomoyuki Shitaya are the chief animation directors.
