Anyone who has ever wondered just how creative they could get while cooking may want to tune in when The CW airs its newest series, “Fridge Wars,” beginning August 2.

The new show, according to a press release, features top Canadian chefs in a battle unlike any other, as they’re forced to create meals composed only from the ingredients out of the refrigerators of ordinary Canadian families.

The show’s host, Emma Hunter, will conduct surprise fridge raids at the homes of various families, taking everything they can grab and using it to recreate the fridge in the studio. There, the chefs will have 45 minutes to get a meal on the table using the ingredients they find in the fridge, which can include anything from “leftover lasagna” to a “questionable bag of frozen vegetables from 2016.”

However, there is an additional component to the competition as well, because the families featured on the show will also be sharing stories about what makes it more difficult to get a meal on the table most nights, and the key to a winning strategy for the chefs will actually be on the outside of the fridge.

“The family calendar, take-out menus, photos and maybe a gluten-free recipe are all potential clues to influence what meal will be a hit with these total strangers,” the press release states.

The first round of meals is then judged by the families, who will score them on look, taste and originality—without knowing which chef prepared which meal. Afterward, the chefs complete a second fridge full of challenges featuring a new family and new ingredients, as well as a “What the Fridge Challenge” that will force them to adapt to “a totally unique culinary crisis.” Once all the scores are in, one chef will be crowned a winner.
