Bill Gates has tested positive for COVID-19, saying he has experienced mild symptoms amid being fully vaccinated and boosted.

The 66-year-old revealed his diagnosis on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon in a series of tweets. Gates said he is isolating per expert advice until he is healthy again.

He said in a tweet, “I'm fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted and have access to testing and great medical care.”

The billionaire philanthropist’s Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has donated $1.75 billion to combat the COVID pandemic and develop vaccines to fight the virus, particularly providing access for poorer countries.

Gates previously warned back in April 2018 that the world was not ready to handle a pandemic.

At an event hosted by the Massachusetts Medical Society and the New England Journal of Medicine, he said, “ This failure should concern us all, because history has taught us there will be another deadly global pandemic.

"We can’t predict when, but given the continual emergence of new pathogens, the increasing risk of a bioterror attack, and the ever-increasing connectedness of our world, there is a significant probability that a large and lethal modern-day pandemic will occur in our lifetime.”
