Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are continuing their support for his 12-year-old child. The actress shared a video on her Instagram and Twitter accounts introducing Zaya on Tuesday.

In the video, Wade and Zaya (formerly known as Zion) can be seen riding in a golf cart talking about the importance of self-acceptance.

“I would say you know, don't even think about that. Just be true to yourself, because... what’s the point of being on this earth if you’re gonna try to be someone you’re not?” she said at the start of the video. "It’s like you’re not even living as yourself, which is like the dumbest concept to me. It’s just like, you know, be true and don’t really care what the stereotypical way of like being you is.”

Wade responds by asking if people should still be true to themselves when they’re receiving negative backlash.

“I know it can get tough, definitely, but I think you push through and you be the best to you, and especially more recently, it’s become more accepting,” Zaya said. “I think even through hard times, you’ve got to just push through. I feel like it’s very worth it when you reach that point of yourself.”

The former NBA star chimes in confirming that feeling “free” is worth facing any negative responses.

“You can look in the mirror and say hi to yourself, like, ‘Nice to meet you,’ instead of, like, ‘I don’t really know who I am,’” Zaya agreed. “It’s like a full identity crisis.”

After posting the video, Union thanked everyone who has assisted her with supporting her stepchild.

As International Business Times previously reported, Wade said he and Union are proud parents, who will be there for all of their children regardless of their gender identities.

"First of all, me and my wife, my wife Gabrielle Union, we are proud... parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community. And we're proud allies as well," he told Ellen. "And we take our roles and our responsibility as parents very seriously. So when a child comes home with a question, when a child comes home with an issue, when a child comes home with anything, it's our job as parents to listen to that, to give them the best information that we can, the best feedback that we can. And that doesn't change because sexuality's now involved in it."

The couple shares a 1-year-old daughter, Kaavia. In addition to Zaya, Wade is also a father to Xavier, 6, and Zaire, 18, as well as a guardian to Dahveon, 18, who is his nephew.
