“Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot was honored with the first-ever She-Ro award at the 2020 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday. The actress received the award for being an inspiration to women and for playing the role of the Amazonian in the hit 2017 movie.

This year’s ceremony was a bit different because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but it still honored the “greatest of all times” across several categories. The inaugural She-Ro award went to Gadot for portraying the character of Wonder Woman and giving hope to little girls that they can achieve whatever they want to have in life.

Gadot thanked MTV in a pre-recorded video message and said that playing the iconic comic-book character has been special for her

“Thank you so much, MTV for honoring me with the first-ever Golden GOAT award. It’s been one of the greatest joys in my life to play this character. She means so much to me and I know how much she’s loved by all of her fans. So, to be a part of her legacy is truly, truly, truly special,” Gadot said while accepting the accolade.

The star also noted that she is so excited for the upcoming movie “Wonder Woman 1984” and can’t wait to show it to her fans all around the world.

“I am so excited for Wonder Woman fans around the world to take this next journey with me in ‘Wonder Woman 1984.’ I can hardly believe that we are finally getting to experience it, but I think you’ll feel it’s been worth the wait,” Gadot said.

The “Justice League” star accepted the award just a few moments after director Patty Jenkins debuted new footage from the second movie in the “Wonder Woman” franchise on social media.

Gadot started her career in 1999 with a TV series called “Shemesh” where she played the role of a dancer. However, she took 10 years to make a return to the entertainment industry and made her debut in the movie “Fast and Furious” in 2009. After making special appearances in a number of movies, her moment of glory came in 2017 when she was cast as Wonder Woman. The movie turned out to be a huge success and took her popularity to a whole new level.

Gadot will be reprising the role of the iconic character in the upcoming “Wonder Woman 1984,” which is scheduled to hit the theaters and HBO Max on Christmas Day.
