TikTok and Instagram are seeing increased competition when it comes to paying creators to provide short videos. Snapchat (SNAP) is willing to pay up to $1 million a day for user-generated content in their Spotlight program, prompting a sharp uptick in global active users.

Snapchat Spotlight was launch in late November, with creators paid from a $1 million daily pool. The social media platform has given out over $110 million over the past few months, CNBC reported. As more creators use this platform, the pool is expected to decrease.

To be eligible to receive payment, the creator’s videos must be in the day’s top-performing creations. A creator's payment depends on how many views they receive that day compared to others.

There have been “several” millionaires, according to CNBC. The business news site profiled one user who claims to be on the path to becoming a millionaire after a few weeks. He said his first big video made him $94,000.

In December, the blog Conviva offered tips, notes and suggestions for gaining success on Snapchat Spotlight: hashtags are critical, use native Snapchat features, don’t overdo it, don’t disqualify yourself and don’t give up.

Snapchat Spotlight has about 100 million users each month, which contributes to the 175,000 video submissions each day.

Global active users jumped from 249 million in the third quarter to 265 million in the fourth quarter, the company said in its most recent earnings call.

Snap recently rolled out Spotlight in India, Mexico and Brazil with a $1 million pool per day.
