Godard may not fly to LA for Hon. Oscar
Veteran French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard has cited age-related problem for his inability to fly to US to receive an honorary Oscar. The fact that this Oscar will not be part of the main event could also be another reason, his filmmaker wife Anne-Marie Mieville hinted.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Godard as an honorary Oscar recipient last month.
Mieville speaking an Australian newspaper said that nobody would travel that far just for a bit of metal. Initially, Godard thought he would be felicitated at the main ceremony, then he realized it was a separate thing in November. It may be noted that last year, the Academy of Motion Pictures relegated the honorary Oscar to a dinner in November in order to make more space for the main event.
