KEY POINTS

  • Leaks about the Google Pixel 4a have surfaced on the internet
  • The leaks reveal some of the device's key specs
  • If the leaks are accurate, it appears that it will be a great budget phone

Google released a winner in the Pixel 3a last year. This budget-friendly device offered great mobile photography capabilities and a lot more for a very affordable price. Because of this, fans are expecting Google to release a new handset that will surpass that device while still selling for cheap.

Android Police reported that there's already been several leaks about the upcoming device, giving consumers an early glimpse as to what the handset will feature, what it will look like and more. Here's what fans can expect from the Pixel 4a.

Design

First and foremost, the Pixel 4a will look like a combination of the Pixel 3a and the current flagship, the Pixel 4. It will have a nearly edge-to-edge 5.81-inch display with a hole punch at the top left for a selfie camera. The display will be surrounded by slim bezels on all sides. The handset will have a plastic unibody that curves at the edges.

Cameras

The Pixel 4a will have one 8MP front-facing camera that will be useful for those selfies. Interestingly, despite having a camera module the size of the one on the Pixel 4, the Pixel 4a will only have one rear-mounted camera: a 12MP shooter.

Size

The Pixel 4a will measure 144.2mm tall, 69.5mm wide and 8.2mm thick, bumping to 9mm at the camera module at the back. It is large enough to accommodate a display that measures almost six inches.

Innards

Although it is unclear at the moment, the handset is believed to have the Snapdragon 730 or 760G chipset, backed by 6GB of RAM. The SoC indicates that it won't have support for 5G. It will come with 64GB UFS 2.1 storage, but other storage sizes might be available when launched.

The handset will have a 3,080 mAh battery that can be charged via USB Type-C. It has a fingerprint scanner at the back, and will have a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio connections.

Google hasn't announced the Pixel 4a yet, which means these specs and features remain unconfirmed at the moment. Nevertheless, fans can expect the device to sell for $400 like the Pixel 3a when released. Fans are advised to stay tuned and wait for more updates as they come.
