A lot of old villains, including Firefly, Mr. Freeze and Fish Mooney, have resurfaced in the new “Gotham” Season 3 return promo, and it looks like the Gotham City Police, as well as Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), are going to have their hands full.

However, one of the more startling scenes in the promo shared by Screen Rant is Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) sporting a darker look as the cops pointed guns towards her.

Does this mean Detective Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) former fiancée has become a villain as well? That seems unlikely, since Thompkins comes from a good moral standpoint. However, it’s possible that she was also infected by the virus of Alice Tetch (Naian Gonzalez Norvind), which sent her late husband Mario Falcone (James Carpinello) into a jealous frenzy.

If that is the case, then it finally makes sense why McKenzie’s character was earlier seen helping Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) escape from prison. Maybe Gordon wants Tetch to reveal a cure for the blood and has bargained his freedom for it.

But it’s all guesswork until “Gotham” comes back from its break. Mazouz earlier told Comic Book Resources that one thing’s for certain: the Court of Owls will play a bigger role when the show returns.

“The Court of Owls will become extremely present in the last eight episodes. At the center of their plans is Bruce Wayne — Bruce and 514A are instrumental to that plan. Something huge will happen with Bruce and the Court of Owls that will change him forever and ultimately help transform him into the man we know he has to become,” he said.

“Gotham” Season 3, episode 15, titled “How the Riddler Got His Name,” will air on April 24.
