Gwyneth Paltrow, who was among the more than two dozen women alleging abuse by former studio executive Harvey Weinstein, appeared at Variety’s Power of Women L.A. luncheon Friday and thanked fellow women in Hollywood for their support.

“It’s really wonderful to be in a room with so many women who are making a difference and supporting the causes that mean the most to them,” Paltrow said, according to People.

“I feel very honored to be amongst you all and very honored, after many decades in this industry, to feel the support and coming together of everybody in this industry this week,” she said. “So thank you very much.”

The luncheon was Paltrow’s first major appearance since she spoke with the New York Times about alleged sexual advances from Weinstein while working with him on the 1996 Jane Austen adaptation “Emma.” According to Paltrow, who was 22 at the time of the incident, Weinstein invited her to his hotel room and propositioned her for “massages” in his bedroom. Paltrow, now 45 and a mother of two, told the Times that she refused his advances.

“I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified,” she told the Times. After the incident, Paltrow reportedly confided in Brad Pitt, whom she was dating at the time.

According to an unnamed source who spoke to People, Pitt “made it clear there would be consequences.”

“Brad threatened Harvey,” the source told the magazine. “He got right in his face, poked him in the chest and said, ‘You will not ever do this to Gwyneth ever again.’“

Paltrow was advised by a producer on her film not to speak to anyone else about the incident, the Times reported. Paltrow said she feared for her job security.

Following two explosive reports on the former film producer, several high-profile Hollywood figures have come forward alleging sexual harassment or abuse by Weinstein. Cara Delevingne, Angelina Jolie and Rose McGowan are among the women who have publicly described sexual harassment or assault.

Weinstein has since been fired from his company and is in treatment at a rehabilitation center in Arizona.
