It's happened to all of us.

We search for a term or browse e-commerce sites while shopping, and the next thing you know you are being bombarded at every turn with ads for the things you've just looked for or viewed.

It's called targeted advertising, and, with a hat tip to Toronto's Globe and Mail, here's how Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) does it.
