Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) was in a bad place when we last saw her in ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder.” Well, things are going to get a lot more dramatic for her.

Cicely Tyson, who plays Annalise’s mother Ophelia Harkness on the series, will return in an upcoming episode. Not just Annalise’s mother but even her father (Roger Robinson) is set to make an appearance when they learn that their daughter has been arrested.

“How To Get Away With Murder” executive producer Pete Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly, “Ophelia comes back, which was obviously an important story for when Annalise’s mother and her father find out their daughter has been arrested for murder. I think they’re going to have a really strong reaction. I can’t wait for people to see that.”

In the Season 3 winter finale, Annalise was arrested for the murder of Rebecca Sutter (Katie Findlay). The police were building a case against before her body was found.

Moreover, it was revealed that Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) was the unidentified male that died in the fire that engulfed the lawyer’s house. However, Annalise’s ex-boyfriend Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) told her that Wes died before the flames burned down her residence.

Ophelia has appeared in one episode of the past two seasons. In Season 2, Annalise visited her family in episode 15, titled “Anna Mae.” Before that, in Season 1, her mother came to her house when she refused to get out of bed after her husband Sam (Tom Verica) was murdered.

Nowalk said, “We always try to have her for at least one episode. The season wouldn’t be complete without her.”

“How To Get Away With Murder” Season 3 will not return this week. The ABC series returns from its break on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 10 p.m. EST.
