Johnny Depp's current libel suit has dropped bombshell after bombshell.

Being that legal battles can be an expensive cost to bear, it brings up a very valid question: How much money does Johnny Depp have? Or, at the very least, what's his net worth?

While it's likely that only the actor, his team, and Uncle Sam know the exact answer to those questions, a look at reports surrounding the projects he's been in and deep dives done by other reputable outlets can provide some pretty good insight.

Most recently, IBTimes reported that Depp's net worth stands at a lofty $200 million and that still seems to be the case. The amount on its own is impressive but when his reported wealth from prior years (before his legal battles) is taken into account, it's dwindled quite a bit.

Going back only two years ago, in 2018, the Rolling Stone reported that the 57-year-old actor had made an "estimated $650 million" from working on films. The article also acknowledged that "almost all of it" was gone.

At the time, Depp fired off a lawsuit against The Management Group," run by his longtime business manager, Joel Mandel, and his brother Robert for negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud." As reported by the publication, the suit included claims "that under TMG’s watch Depp’s sister Christi was given $7 million and his assistant, Nathan Holmes, $750,000, without his knowledge, and that he has paid the IRS more than $5.6 million in late fees," among other things. Depp was seeking $25 million in damages, however, they were able to reach an agreed-upon settlement.

Considering the financial burden that the TMG lawsuit had on the "Pirate of the Caribbean" star, it's likely that his current libel lawsuit could have the same effect. He is currently suing the News Group Newspapers (NGN), more specifically, The Sun newspaper and its editor Dan Wooten, over an article which called him a "wife-beater," and referred to "overwhelming evidence" that he attacked his ex-wife Amber Heard during their relationship," according to Deadline. He vehemently denies the accusations.
