  • Johnny Depp's net worth is around $200 million
  • He accused his former management of mishandling his money
  • Depp and Amber Heard divorced in 2017 over verbal and phyisical abuse allegations

Johnny Depp’s net worth once hit the $400 million mark, however, due to legal and personal woes, his fortunes took a hit and plummeted considerably.

Depp’s current net worth is allegedly around $200 million. The actor has several box office hits to his name: "The Pirates of the Carribean," "Rango," "Alice in Wonderland" and "Sweeney Todd," among others.

Depp’s films have grossed approximately $8.7 billion worldwide. In his heydays, he can easily demand an eight-figure salary for each movie he stars in. He reportedly received $20 million per movie in the "Pirates of the Carribean" series and also raked in some proceeds from the ticket sales worldwide.

However, the actor has been faced with a storm of controversy the past years. He previously charged his former management for mishandling his money. The Management Group (TMG) was accused of mishandling his fortunes by as much as $40 million through unauthorized loans, unpaid property taxes and overpaid security fees. TMG, on the other hand, tagged the actor as the one responsible for his money problems. They claimed he overspent on luxurious things and lived a lavish lifestyle.

Yahoo! News reports that Capt. Jack Sparrow spent $75 million to buy and decorate several homes, $18 million to buy a yacht and $30,000 per month to purchase wine. All in all, he spent about $2 million per month on average.

These financial worries were compounded by personal woes he was experiencing in 2017. Depp and former wife Amber Heard filed for divorce in 2016 and was granted a year after. The actress claimed that the actor abused her verbally and physically on many occasions. The divorce settlement was $7 million since the couple had no prenuptial agreement.

Although Depp has been on the highest paid actors list for years, he has had a hard time lately due to movie flops. Some of his movies which bombed at the box office were “Transcendence,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Dark Shadows” and “The Rum Diary.”

Depp’s money and personal struggles are not new in the entertainment industry. But despite all this, it's still safe to say, Johnny Depp is still one of the best and brightest stars Hollywood has ever had.
