Though rumors of a feud between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have seemingly been put to rest following a statement by the royal family itself, there are still reports that any feud between the two Duchess’ could have been stopped by someone else in the family.

According to Express UK, Prince Charles had the power to fix the alleged feud between the two women—but because he had fired the “only person” who could have ended any drama last year, things ended up going the way they did.

Tom Bower, Prince Charles’ biographer, revealed on “Good Morning Britain” that the reason the alleged feud got so out of control was that there wasn’t anyone around who could keep the two women in check, specifically Markle.

“The problem really is, in the system, that there’s never been in the Palace someone who’s really intelligent, who’s respected,” he said. “Someone who can step forward and say ‘look, Meghan, this is the way you might have done it in Hollywood, but here in London we do it this way.”

He went on to reveal that the one person who could have successfully spoken to the Duchess of Sussex and explained things to her was actually fired in 2017 by Prince Charles.

“The Queen’s a bit too old, and the trouble is the one person who could have done it would have been the Queen’s private secretary, a man called Christopher Geidt,” he continued. “But he was fired by Charles because he was too good and too clever, and interfered at times when it was necessary.”

News of an alleged feud broke after it was confirmed that the former actress and Prince Harry would be moving out of Kensington Palace and settling at Frogmore Cottage, on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Since then, reports have aimed at several potential causes for the alleged problems.
