  • The new app lets users translate foreign languages on the go via the device
  • The app currently supports 11 languages

Apple has added a new Translate app to iOS 14, the latest iPhone operating system version. This app lets users translate words and sentences from one language to another without having to connect to the internet. All translations are done on-device, allowing for faster, more secure translations.

The new app is designed to go against other services currently available, such as Google Translate. It is meant to give iPhone users an easy-access tool that can help them understand and communicate with others who speak in a foreign language. It will also help users learn other languages easily.

Here's how to use the new Translate for iOS 14 app.

Changing languages

Before translating any text or speech, users will need to select the language that needs translating and the language to which it will be translated to.

  • First, launch the app.
  • Second, select either of the two languages at the top. The language to the left will be the user's language, while the language to the right will be the foreign language to be translated.
  • Third, after selecting either of the two, users will need to choose from the list of languages presented under All Languages. Recently used languages will be shown under Recent. (A complete list of languages can be seen here.)
  • Fourth, after choosing a language, users will need to tap on Done.

After this, users will be able to proceed with translating text or speech.
