  • Trump faces impeachment, trial coming soon
  • Even if Trump steps down, China hawks in Senate and Congress can still work against Huawei's favor
  • Huawei is still yet to make major business waves after ban but is starting to step up as seen with move in Germany

The House has recently voted in favor of impeaching U.S President Donald Trump. The president’s administration has put in its staunch effort in preventing Huawei in doing business within the country and overseas from using its technology. What does this impeachment mean for Huawei’s future in the U.S.?

The U.S House has recently decided to impeach the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump. The president has been charged with obstruction of Congress and abuse of power. The move is only the beginning as a trial still has to be done in order to properly unseat the President or let him keep his position. The Trump administration is known for its efforts against preventing on keeping a close eye on Huawei’s business deals even outside the country’s borders.

If the trial goes against Trump, Huawei may have the U.S. pressure alleviated for a short while. If Trump gets unseated, his allies and other China hawks can still keep the pressure on the Huawei. On the other end, newer decisions may go in favor of Huawei if the next president has different interests about the Chinese deals.

So far, the Entity List restrictions on Huawei have already affected much of the company’s businesses. Huawei had to reduce its people in Futurewei, its outpost based in Washington, and consider transferring its resources to Canada to stay in the North America region.

On the other end, the US government has also been extending its worries to its allies and other countries. The U.S. government believes that there are security risks and potential spying in Huawei’s technology and should be avoided to keep their networks secure too. Huawei has long dismissed the US government’s accusations for its technology to be baseless.

However, other countries are already staying their hands on making a decision on using Huawei technology so far. As of now, the Chinese government has stepped in attempts to secure Huawei’s deal with Germany.
