Apple is set to announce some exciting news during its March 25 event at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, and tech enthusiasts are speculating that the iPad mini 5 will be part of it.

The past first-quarter events of Apple were geared toward the announcement of new services and subscriptions, but a few hardware announcements also got included. This year seems to be no different as reliable sources claimed that the tech company is set to announce a premium Apple News subscription service and release new video content for the Apple TV. Apart from this, it’s possible that the AirPods 2, the AirPower and 2019 iPad models could be showcased at the event.

Forbes recently reported that there’s a very big chance that new iPad models could be coming as they would complement very nicely the new Apple subscription service. There’s no indication that it could be the next version of the iPad Pro because a redesign of that series was introduced last October. However, there’s a possibility that a new 9.7-inch model and the long-awaited iPad mini 5 could be announced at the event.

There’s a good chance of new iPads getting announced as MacRumors revealed that Apple just registered two unreleased tablets with the Bureau of Indian Standards. The models, with codenames A2124 and A2133, have already been registered under the Eurasian Economic Commission early this year, but the Indian registration could mean that a reveal is already in the offing.

There are rumors that there won’t be many changes in the new iPad models in terms of looks. The supposed iPad mini 5, however, is said to have a "relocated mic, centered on the upper back panel."

What’s exciting though is that Apple seems to be preparing a new model that’s expected to be more affordable than previous iterations. This model is said to have upgraded internal specs with a low-cost display panel.

Another thing to look forward to is that Apple might finally launch an iPad mini that could support the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. Meanwhile, the bigger 7.9-inch tablet will continue to have a Touch ID feature and the 3.5mm headphone jack.
