KEY POINTS

  • Apple has stopped signing iOS 13.7
  • This means iPhone users will not be able to downgrade from iOS 14 anymore
  • Those who still use iOS 13.7 will still be able to enjoy the version's features

Apple recently released iOS 14, the latest and greatest iOS version yet. The new version brings a slew of enhancements, improvements and new features designed to give consumers the best iPhone user experience.

Those who find adjusting to iOS 14 a bit difficult and may want to downgrade to an earlier version, however, will no longer be able to do so as Apple has stopped signing iOS 13.7. This means the older iOS version won't be available for download anymore.

With iOS 13.7, Apple made it easier for iPhone users to receive COVID-19 exposure notifications. The iOS version allowed users to opt-in to the safety feature without requiring them to download an app. This meant users will be able to receive alerts or notifications telling them if they've been exposed to or have come close to a person who tested positive for the coronavirus.

That said, those who have upgraded to iOS 14 shouldn't feel bad about not being able to downgrade to earlier iOS versions anymore. This is because of the new features that Apple packed into the new iPhone operating system software version.

These features include the ability to change default browser and email apps and App Clips, which allow users to test certain apps without having to download them. The new version also introduced the Translate app, which allows for easier translations of 11 different languages and improved sleep tracking features, which includes the addition of Wind Down, among others.

The latest iPhone OS version allows users to customize their home screens using widgets. Users can group widgets together via Smart Stacks. Users can also change how app icons look using a workaround.

Aside from these, the new iOS 14 lets iPhone users enjoy other enhancements Apple made to other operating system versions and devices. These include the new Blood Oxygen app that works with the Apple Watch Series 6 in measuring SpO2 and improvements related to the AirPods such as automatic device switching, optimized battery charging, Hearing Health and Spatial Audio for the AirPods Pro.

Apple iPhone users who haven't upgraded to iOS 14 yet can still get the new version as it is the one currently available for download.
