Ivanka Trump has come under fire in recent days following news Marc Fisher Footwear, the manufacturer for her former shoe brand, owed rent at Trump Tower in New York City. On Sunday, Ivanka Trump's name became a trending topic on Twitter.

According to a lawsuit filed by the Trump Organization, the shoe manufacturer conducted business on the 21st and 22nd floors of the building and stopped paying rent in November 2020. In all, Marc Fisher Footwear owed $1.4 million in unpaid rent. The Trump Organization lawsuit was settled in April.

Marc Fisher served as Trump's footwear licensing partner before she shut down her namesake line in July 2018.

News of Trump Tower tenants not paying rent surfaced over the weekend and sparked backlash on Twitter with users criticizing Trump for her poor business skills. Twitter users also jumped on the opportunity to slam her for other decisions she made while working under her father, former President Donald Trump.

“Ivanka Trump is as much of a business disaster as her daddy,” one post read.

One user admitted they only wanted to see Ivanka Trump in the news if she was facing legal charges. “At this point, the only reason Ivanka Trump should be trending is because she’s been indicted with the rest of her grifter family,” the post read.

After the Trump Organization sued Marc Fisher Footwear, they settled in April under undisclosed terms. The manufacturer has since reportedly vacated its offices at Trump Tower.

As the Trump family has been linked to several investigations and calls for criminal probes, Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner have reportedly been distancing themselves from Donald Trump, who in recent speeches has not referenced them.

The 39-year-old Ivanka Trump is a mother of three. She is said to want a less complicated life after a tumultuous stretch of eight years in which she served as an executive for the Trump Organization.
