On Monday night, "Jeopardy!" fans will be able to tune in to see the beginning of the 2020 College Championship. Each year, the Alex Trebek-hosted trivia show invites a group of deserving students to appear and compete for the $100K grand prize.

According to the official "Jeopardy!" website, the 15 students competing this year will come from a variety of schools, including Princeton University, Florida State University, Penn State, and others.

Leading up to the 10-day event, audiences may want to learn a bit more about the history of the special competition on the long-running quiz show. The following facts are provided via TV Insider.

According to the outlet, over 100 schools have been featured in the tournament throughout its 30-year history. Harvard students made the most appearances with 15 contestants, which is followed by a three-way tie between Stanford, University of Michigan, and Northwestern.

Even though Harvard has had the largest amount of students make their way onto the "Jeopardy!" stage, they fell short of having more than one winner among their alumni. That honor currently goes to Stanford as they are the only college to take home more than one title.

As for what viewers can expect to see this year, executive producer Harry Friedman shared that they selected a group of students from "a wide variety of colleges and universities — big and small, public and private, from different areas of the country." He then added that there will be "a mix of standard 'Jeopardy!' material and categories or clues that are geared more toward their demographic" when it comes to the questions themselves.

In recent months, the trivia show has continued to stay in the news for a variety of reasons. Not only did Trebek give fans a health update regarding his ongoing battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but the show has also been a topic of conversation amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has caused a specific change to be made. Additionally, new episodes of the popular program were also added to Netflix in February.

The 2020 "Jeopardy!" College Championship will air from April 6-17.
