Jerry Falwell Jr. has a net worth of $100 million and he is reportedly receiving a $1 million per year salary as Liberty University president.

Falwell Jr. took over Liberty University after his father passed away in 2007. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Baptist school has now expanded and caters to almost 95,000 students. In terms of assets, Liberty University recorded $260 million in 2007. Fast forward to 2020 and its reported assets skyrocketed to $3 billion, thanks to Falwell Jr.’s management skills. On the other hand, critics claim that the school is only a facade for a real estate hedge fund, which made the Fallwell family richer.

According to News Advance, the 58-year-old earned $926,634 at one point and was tagged as one of the highest paid among Virginia private college chief executives. The only other person who topped his salary was University of Richmond’s Edward Ayers who received $1,044,367 per year. The salary of Ayers and Falwell Jr. almost doubled the national average of $512,987 income of school chief executives per year. Their compensation is a mixture of different factors such as housing benefits, base pay and leave credits.

Falwell Jr. has resigned from his post as Liberty President after sex scandal allegations surfaced recently. He was seen in an Instagram post with his shorts unzipped while reports that his wife, Becki Falwell, maintains an alleged intimate relationship with Giancarlo Granda, a business partner. Fallwell Jr. was accused to have consented to his wife’s affairs.

The latest controversies will put a mark over the credibility of the Evangelical school head to lead and set an example. After all, the Liberty University, considered one of the most prominent religious colleges in the U.S., applies a rule to its students not to engage in sexual relationships outside marriage.

It is not clear yet who will replace the disgraced former university president but an interim president has been put in place since Falwell Jr. was placed under official leave before the scandal broke out.

The lawyer, real estate developer and resigned school administrator is no stranger to controversies. Back in June 2019, he tweeted a racist photo which was already taken down but not without causing a stir among the Black students and alumni. Falwell Jr. also released a statement saying people were just overreacting to the coronavirus back in March.
