"Cheer" star Jerry Harris, who was arrested last week on child pornography charges, remains in custody after his lawyers asked to postpone a decision on whether he will be released on bond.

During a 10-minute telephone hearing in a Chicago federal court Monday, Sept. 21, Harris' lawyer, Todd Pugh, told Judge Sunil R. Harjani that he waived his rights to detention and preliminary hearings. He said he has yet to arrange accommodation for the 21-year-old Netflix star if he were granted release on bond, The New York Times reported.

Harris, who dialed into the court hearing via phone, will remain in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago until the next hearing, which is yet to be scheduled, USA Today reported.

Harris, who gained popularity after his appearance in the Netflix docuseries "Cheer," was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 17, for allegedly coercing a minor to produce sexually explicit videos and photos, federal officials stated.

Two 14-year-old twin brothers from Texas had earlier filed a lawsuit alleging Harris harassed them for over a year, both online and in-person at cheerleading competitions. Their complaint said the harassment began when the brothers were 13 and Harris was 19.

Following his arrest, Harris admitted to law enforcement officials that he solicited and received child pornography on Snapchat from at least 10 to 15 people he was aware were minors. He also confessed to having sex with a 15-year-old at a cheerleading competition last year and paying a 17-year-old money in exchange for nude photos.

If convicted, Harris could face 15 to 30 years in federal prison, the report said.

Several of Harris' "Cheer" co-stars have expressed shock and dismay over his arrest, including coach Monica Aldama, who is competing in the current season of "Dancing with the Stars." She recently shared her thoughts on Harris' arrest, saying she was devastated by the shocking development.

"My heart is shattered into a million pieces," Aldama wrote in an Instagram post. "I am devastated by this shocking, unexpected news. Our children must be protected from abuse and exploitation, and I'm praying hard for the victims and everyone affected."
