Even though they have already parted ways, singers John Mayer and Katy Perry are still constantly being linked to one another.

During Monday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Mayer was even asked by Andy Cohen about Perry and her recent 96-hour live stream for Witness.

“That’s her thing, man. To go big and bold,” Mayer said. “Yeah, I checked in with it.” He then added, “It’s definitely odd to watch your ex-girlfriend asleep.”

Mayer let on that he is in good terms with Perry, so much so that it did not feel strange for him to send her a birthday text during the wee hours of the morning. “If someone says, ‘I don’t watch that,’ it’s like yes, you do,” he said. “I texted Katy ‘happy birthday;’ it was four in the morning. How weird is it to be like, ‘I want to say happy birthday now, but I’m going to wait until tomorrow afternoon.’ You just gotta be a person. Be human about it.”

During an earlier talk with James Corden on “The Late Late Show,” Perry confessed that out of all her ex-boyfriends, Mayer was her best lover. “Working on the notion that they’re all good,” Perry ranked Mayer as her No. 1, followed by Bloom. Diplo ranked last.

When Cohen asked Mayer to name his best lover as well, the “Love on the Weekend” singer evaded giving an answer. “So far, it’s on a little SD card – I’ve been creating it myself,” he said. “I have been my best lover so far.”

This answer was slightly more friendly compared to the one Mayer earlier provided to the Rolling Stone when asked about Perry’s best lovers list. Mayer appeared exasperated with questions pertaining to his ex-girlfriend and said he’s done playing “games” with her.

“I don’t have a cool-enough thought for you,” he said. “I’ve hacked this game. I pay very little of the price of fame now. I get to play the music that moves me the most. I’m having the time of my life. I’m 39 — I remember 32. I don’t wanna do it again.”
