John Mulaney’s last several specials have been exclusive to Netflix, but his next couple are going back to cable TV. The comedian announced two sequels to “John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch,” and they won’t be on the streaming platform.

“I was an intern at Comedy Central when I was barely older than the kids in the ‘Sack Lunch Bunch.’ I wasn’t a very good intern, so I am psyched they hired me again. We are thrilled to bring these specials to Comedy Central: a place where I have had so many good times,” Mulaney said in a press release on Tuesday.

Comedy Central will carry two “Sack Lunch Bunch” specials. The Viacom-owned network revealed that one will be a holiday special that will reunite the cast from the first one.

Released on Netflix on Christmas Eve 2019, “John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch” was written by Mulaney and Markia Sawyer and directed by Rhys Thomas. Comedy Central has not announced if they will return for either sequel.

So why move from Netflix back to cable? Money, of course. Comedy Central apparently “bid far more aggressively for the sequels,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. Specific numbers were not revealed.

Mulaney was last on Comedy Central in 2012 with his stand-up special “New In Town,” and he has skyrocketed in popularity since. He has released several specials on Netflix and made his Broadway debut in "Oh, Hello" in 2016. Mulaney also made his big-screen debut in 2018’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and will be seen in next year’s movie musical adaptation of “Cinderella” as a footman.
