Jon Bon Jovi’s daughter was arrested at her college in upstate New York Wednesday after allegedly overdosing on heroin in her dorm room, police said.

Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, daughter of the 50-year-old “Livin on a Prayer” rocker, was found alive but unresponsive when a team of police and emergency medics responded to a report that a female student had overdosed on heroin in Dunham Hall, Hamilton College’s largest dormitory. Town of Kirkland police say they found a “small quantity” of heroin on the scene, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Bongiovi was arrested along with fellow student Ian Grant, 21, and charged with three misdemeanors. Both were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Bongiovi was also charged with fourth-degree possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Hamilton College declined to comment but said it was cooperating with the police investigation, reported Reuters.

The college's statement: “On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, members of the Kirkland Police Department arrested two Hamilton College students. One was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree, and the second was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation. Our first concern is always for the safety of our students. Out of respect for the privacy of our students and in accordance with federal regulations we do not discuss individual health or disciplinary matters."

Peter Cania, a police investigator, said Bongiovi was recovering in the hospital, but declined to comment on which one she being treated in. He also revealed that the police had been authorized with search warrants for the dorm, but did not say whether the police searched Bongiovi’s room. Police said that they did not know whether Bongiovi or Grant had obtained lawyers.

Bongiovi has been released from custody since her arrest, but has been ordered to appear in court at a later date. A rep for her father declined to comment.
