"The View" co-host Joy Behar claimed Tuesday that the crime rate was diminishing in the U.S. under President Joe Biden's administration and was trolled by many online.

Her comments came up during a discussion focused on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, who was attacked with a hammer in his home allegedly by David DePape.

According to a Decider report Tuesday, Behar condemned the "conspiracy theories spread by Republicans" that there was more to the attack on Paul, other than the claim that DePape was on the hunt for Nancy. She called out the Republicans for heavily focusing on violent incidents ahead of next week's midterms.

"I'd like to remind everybody it was the Democrats – not the Democrats who stormed the government that day and tried to kill the vice president, okay? And the Republicans now coming up to the next election, which is next week by the way, all they do is talk about crime, crime, crime. I looked it up, murders in major cities have fallen by 4% so far in 2022 compared with the same period a year ago, so crime is not on the rise it's actually going down under Joe Biden," Behar said, according to FoxBaltimore.

Behar was quoting from a New York Times article that cited data from AH Datalytics, which now shows a 5% drop in murders this year, compared to 2021.

However, NYT stated that the decrease doesn't cancel out the surge in 2020 and 2021, due to which the murder rate is still 30 percent above the 2019 levels, despite the numbers appearing to have peaked last year.

Murder levels might have dipped according to this report, however, a part of the FBI's Uniform Crime Report, which dropped in early October, says that the data failed to account for thousands of places, including big cities like New York and Los Angeles.

Nearly 40% of all law enforcement agencies, including in New York and Los Angeles failed to submit any data to the feds. In New York alone, 469 of 593 police departments failed to report any data. This includes the NYPD. Connecticut and Delaware were one of the few cities that recorded 100% participation, New York Post reported.

Americans that are aware of the discrepancies in the crime reporting system took to social media to call out Behar and accused her of spreading misinformation. Some users called for the cancelation of the ABC Network show.

"The View should be cancelled for spreading disinformation!" read a tweet. "This is a dangerous spread of misinformation and it's jeopardizing our democracy," wrote another user.

"They way they unstated truth is horrible. So many dem cities don't even make arrests in many crimes these days. The numbers are off the reports...not off the crimes on the streets. And the crimes are quite a bit higher in every aspect...crime is not just about murder," a user opined.
