Justin Bieber took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to apologize for supporting Morgan Wallen's music, noting that he had not been aware of the controversy surrounding the American country singer.

"I had no idea that the guy's music I posted was recently found saying racist comments, as you know I don't support or tolerate any sort of racism or discrimination," Bieber wrote. "I had no idea, I sincerely apologize to anyone I offended."

Fan account @jbiebertraacker tweeted a screenshot of Bieber's apology, which came after he received backlash for praising Wallen's album.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 27-year-old singer previously shared a screenshot of Wallen's "Dangerous: The Double Album" in an Instagram Story and captioned it with, "Love this album." He quickly deleted the post after being called out by fans.

Following his apology, Bieber posted another Instagram Story to say sorry for his own "hurtful racist jokes" in the past. The singer admitted to being "incredibly ignorant" and said he used to "hurt people."

"When I was a kid, I was incredibly ignorant and said some very hurtful racist jokes that clearly were not funny," he recalled. "I hurt a lot of people especially the black people in my life but was fortunate enough to have had them educate me on the horrifying origin of the n word."

Citing Wallen's controversy, he wrote, "This brings those painful memories back up, I will always take ownership for my ignorance and my past because I know I am not that person."

"I know that I have apologized for this before but knowing that this is such a sensitive issue I believe it's important to bring this up to hopefully educate people who may be ignorant to the topic of racism and how hurtful it is," he concluded.

After a couple of minutes, Bieber added another Instagram Story. "I have so much more to learn and I'm grateful for my black brothers and sisters for being patient with me as I have a long way to go," Bieber wrote as per Yahoo Entertainment.

Wallen came under fire in February after he was caught on camera using a racial slur. Following the controversy, the 28-year-old singer lost his recording contract with Big Loud Records. Many other radio networks, including iHeartRadio, stopped playing his music as well.
