Kate Middleton attended the wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Phillips by herself on May 17, 2008.

At that time, the Duchess of Cambridge still has not wed Prince William, which means that she’s not an official member of the royal family yet. But even if the Duke of Cambridge couldn’t make it to the occasion, Middleton made sure to attend.

According to Hello! magazine, Middleton went to the wedding of Prince William’s cousin because the future King already had a previous engagement. The dad of three attended his ex-girlfriend Jessica Craig’s brother’s nuptials in Kenya.

A source also told The Telegraph in 2008 that Prince William did not intentionally snub his cousin’s wedding. Rather, he was scheduled to go out of the country on the same weekend due to a long-standing prior commitment.

“It is an unfortunate clash but he spoke to his cousin Peter and he is fine with the situation. His girlfriend will be going in his absence,” the source said.

The Phillips couple celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on Friday. Their nuptials were attended by 300 guests, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and more.

Autumn borrowed Princess Anne’s beautiful tiara for her special day, and she also wore a pearl and diamond necklace that was gifted to her by her husband.

“Something blue was stitched into the dress, which of course was new, like the perfect necklace and matching earrings Peter gave me,” Autumn said.

Years after their wedding, the Phillips’ were blessed with two daughters together, Savannah and Isla Phillips.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot three years after the Phillips’ couple wed. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Two years later, they were blessed with a son, who they named Prince George.

Middleton and Prince William welcomed their second child, Princess Charlotte, in 2015 and their youngest son, Prince Louis, last year.
