Kate Middleton’s hairstylist shared what it was like working with the duchess and Prince William for their wedding.

On Wednesday (April 29), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary. Middleton’s hairstylist on her big day, Richard Ward, recalled the special event.

Ward was the man behind Middleton’s perfect hairstyle during her royal wedding. He blow-dried and styled Middleton’s locks for the occasion. According to him, one can easily have a “good joke” with the duchess. He also shared how the future king assisted him in styling Middleton’s signature voluminous, bouncy blowout dry.

“I wanted to show Kate the back of her hair [getting ready at Clarence House for the evening party] and I was struggling to walk with this 500-year-old mirror, and he just said, ‘Let me give you a hand,’ and I said, ‘No, no, honestly,’ but he took one end and I’ve got the other and we’re shuffling along with this mirror – he’s great, he really is,” Ward told People.

Ward spent a lot of time with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the run-up to their royal wedding. He also recalled that when they met for the first time around at the couple’s house, it was Prince William who made him a cup of tea.

“That was very nice,” he said while recalling Prince William’s gesture.

He also commented on Middleton’s “wicked sense of humor.”

“It’s quite dry, there’s no airs and graces – you can have a good joke with her,” Ward added.

During their engagement interview, Prince William also said his wife has a “naughty” sense of humor. The royal added that they were a perfect match because “I’ve got a really dirty sense of humor so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh and then things happened.”

Meanwhile, Prince William’s sister-in-law Meghan Markle was slammed by some netizens for releasing a new video for Smart Works on the same day as Kate and William’s wedding anniversary. Markle’s critics accused her of trying to steal the limelight from the Cambridges because the video was actually filmed in March.

“Oh come on! She filmed this in MARCH & released it on the Cambridge’s Wedding anniversary!? It’s beyond predictable and I’m not even annoyed as it’s so obvious and pathetic at this point. Behaving like a petulant child,” one wrote on Twitter.
