Kate Middleton has made her first public appearance since completing a period of self-isolation due to COVID-19 exposure.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were photographed attending the women's singles final at Wimbledon in London Saturday. They watched Australian Ashleigh Barty face off against the Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova, People reported. Barty beat Pliskova for her second Grand Slam title.

For the outing, Middleton wore a chic green dress, while her husband opted for a blue suit. The couple was joined in the royal box by tennis legends Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova, who sat behind them.

Middleton's Wimbledon appearance marked her first public outing since Kensington Palace announced that she was self-isolating after she came into contact with someone who later tested positive for the coronavirus.

"Last week, The Duchess of Cambridge came into contact with someone who has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home," the Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.

The Duchess of Cambridge is a regular at Wimbledon. She is also the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the annual tennis tournament.

Middleton also attended the tennis tournament in 2018 and 2019 with her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. In 2019, the two duchesses were joined by her sister, Pippa Middleton.

Markle and Middleton's 2018 Wimbledon appearance was their first-ever joint appearance. According to veteran royal photographer Mark Stewart, royal fans clamored after seeing them at the tournament, and there was no rivalry between them.

"She very much let Kate take the lead," the photographer told People at the time. "There was no rivalry. It shows how well Meghan has adapted as she is aware that Kate will be Queen one day and her position is different."

In a previous interview, Middleton shared that she was banned from the 2013 Wimbledon finals because she was heavily pregnant with Prince George. She begged her doctor to allow her to watch the finals, but she was told, "Definitely not."

The duchess missed the finals where Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic. But the duchess sent the winner a letter apologizing for her absence.

"I was very heavily pregnant. I wrote to him [Murray] afterwards saying sorry for not being there," Middleton said.
